Executive Staff
Dr. Salgo is the Associate Director of the Open Heart ICU and Chairman of the Inter-ICU Committee at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He is also an Emmy Award winning medical journalist, practicing physician, professor of medicine, and respected health-care futurist who has been speaking and writing about healthcare and heart care, in particular, for more than twenty-five years. The recipient of numerous awards, he has been viewed by millions on television and has served as medical consultant for dramatic series on all three television networks. Currently practicing internal medicine and anesthesiology at Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Salgo also teaches at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. In his groundbreaking new book, The Heart of the Matter, Dr. Salgo presents a regimen to reduce the incidence of heart disease, including the recommendation that most adults would benefit from taking the cholesterol-busting drugs known as statins. He received his M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons.
Ronald Scarpone — Managing Partner
Ronald Scarpone has over 20 years experience in the Healthcare Information Management sector, most recently serving as a Corporate Officer and Executive Vice President of Marketing and New Business Development for MedQuist, Inc. Mr. Scarpone joined MedQuist in May 1994 as Vice President and Chief Information Officer. He was promoted to Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing/Business Development in December 1998, and to Executive Vice President of Marketing in October 2002. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Scarpone was employed by Transcriptions, Ltd. He joined that company in 1987 and served as Vice President of Information Services. Retiring from MedQuist in November 2004, Mr. Scarpone continues to provide consulting services to MedQuist and other healthcare organizations through his own company where he acts as President of Strata Consulting Group, LLC.. His experience while helping to build MedQuist from a $50 million dollar organization to over 500 million dollars in 9 years comes from designing and building the strategic business plans for the company. He was responsible for developing the business opportunities and partnerships and for guiding MedQuist through more than 50 corporate acquisitions.
Joe Weber — Managing Partner
Joe's experience includes: CEO of Lexicore (speech recognition for healthcare); CEO of Narratek (clinical-documentation software and consulting); Exec. V.P. for DVI (dictation and speech recognition); Sr. V.P. for Larry Weed's PKC Corporation (clinical-guidance software); Associate Director for Ambulatory Care at Cook County Hospital; and medical researcher at the National Institutes of Health. He is widely published, and has chaired and presented at numerous medical conferences on various topics related to clinical documentation. Joe is the holder of 3 U.S. patents. He has a B.A. in Biology from Brandeis, an M.S. in Biostatistics from Columbia, and an M.S. in Management from M.I.T.
Martin Weissman — Managing Partner
Martin most recently was President and CEO of Baseline Medical, Inc., a company that performs independent medical examinations for the insurance industry for workers' compensation, no-fault, liability, and disability. Previously, he was President and CEO of Professional Care, Inc., a home healthcare company. And he has served as President and CEO of Signetrust, Inc., a healthcare security-software company specializing in electronic signature technology and digital certificates. Martin provides management consulting services to healthcare organizations as CEO of Corporate Connect. He has a B.S. in Accounting from New York University.
